According to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News, Williams suffered a shoulder strain. It's currently unclear how much time the edge rusher will miss.

Williams made his presence felt in 27 percent of the defense's snaps during a promising rookie season.

The No. 56 pick tallied four sacks, nine quarterback hits, and three fumble recoveries. Ten of his 22 tackles went for a loss.

The 24-year-old looked poised to earn an expanded role for a stacked Cowboys pass rush led by Micah Parsons and Demarcus Lawrence.

Dallas also brought back Dante Fowler Jr. following a six-sack season and selected defensive tackle Mazi Smith in the first round.

Only last year's Super Bowl participants (Kansas City and Philadelphia) tallied more sacks than the Cowboys (54) in 2022.

They also produced an NFL-leading 33 takeaways during a 12-5 season, which ended in a second-round playoff exit.
