Fans Furious With Qatar's Last-Minute Change Before World Cup

As if fans didn't need more of a reason to fume at Qatar heading into the 2022 FIFA World Cup this weekend,

the nation's tournament organizers have just made a major course reversal that has fans fuming.

According to Front Office Sports, Qatari officials have banned the sale of alcohol in and around the eight stadiums being used during the World Cup.

The only exception is for people who buy luxury suites - which have a starting price point of over $20,000.

The decision comes just 48 hours before the World Cup's opening ceremony and first match between Qatar and Ecuador

That certainly won't be to the liking of their Budweiser sponsor, who FIFA have invested a whopping $75 million in sponsorship deals for the World Cup.

Fans are fuming at FIFA for not being able to see this coming. Many are taking some delight in seeing the soccer governing body reap what they sow:

"Ha. That'll teach fifa a lesson. Take all the money, then get bit by the Budweiser deal. Hope they don't change it," one user replied.
