Carli Lloyd Explains Where U.S. Soccer Is 'Failing' Women's Team

Sweden shocked the world earlier this week when it knocked out the United States in the Round of 16 at the FIFA Women's World Cup.

Sweden advanced through penalty kicks (5-4) and gave the USWNT its earliest exit ever.

The USWNT was trying to be the first team to win three World Cups in a row before getting knocked out.

Carli Lloyd, who hasn't been afraid of criticizing the USWNT, gave her thoughts on the team being knocked out and why the program needs to wake up.

"It used to be that everyone feared the U.S. and the U.S. was always going in confident to these tournaments but I think when you win,

it's easy to get comfortable. I think this is a humble moment for the program,

the players, for the coaching staff, and it's a wake-up call for the entire program," Lloyd said.

Lloyd also explained how the program is failing at the U17 level and U20 level as the development of players needs to improve.
