3-Time MLB All-Star Is Retiring Again After Announcing Comeback 2 Months Ago

Earlier this summer, the baseball world learned Daniel Murphy was attempting a surprising comeback.

Murphy initially retired from baseball in 2021, but came out of retirement with the hopes of making it back to the big leagues.

He eventually signed with the Los Angeles Angels on a minor league contract.

Just two months later, though, Murphy is walking away from the game.

His current minor league team issued a statement announcing his retirement.

"From Jacksonville to Salt Lake and everywhere in between, thank you for making us part of your baseball story.

Enjoy your retirement, Murph," the Salt Lake Bees said in a message.

Murphy was hitting .295 for the Bees with one homer and 25 RBIs in 40 games before announcing his retirement.
